about Caden

Caden Potter is a pianist and composer based in Los Angeles, California. Raised in Redding, California, he was inspired to play the piano after he watched his grandparents play, and he has loved the instrument ever since. Caden has been playing the piano for fifteen years and composing for thirteen, spanning a wide array of genres including classical, jazz, pop, RnB, and salsa music. He has also been instructing piano for eight years, and has a passion teaching what he has learned to others.

Caden has a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in Global Jazz Studies, where he studied under renowned pianists Tamir Hendelman, Otmaro Ruiz, and Arturo O’Farrill. He also studied composition and theory from esteemed faculty members Terence Blanchard, Mark Turner, Hitomi Oba, Duane Benjamin, Charley Harrison, and Clayton Cameron. Caden also obtained a Certification as a Recording Audio Engineer at UCLA, under the instruction of recording engineers David McKenna and Beth Sweeney.

Caden has been a performing musician for over eight years in a variety of musical environments, including big bands, chamber ensembles, jazz combos, and pit orchestras. He has performed at the Folsom and Mammoth Jazz festivals as well as prominent venues across Los Angeles, including UCLA’s Royce and Schoenberg Halls and the Catalina Jazz Club. In 2022, he was invited to the NAMM Show, where he performed as an artist in the Yamaha booth to debut their CFX Concert Grand Piano. Caden also has experience as a recording musician, recording in the Evelyn and Mo Ostin and Melnitz Hall recording studios. Caden utilizes what he has learned in his musical endeavors to this day, and continues to enrich his understanding ofmusic through performance and study.
